Cambridge Institute of Technology, Bangalore, which is expanding rapidly, welcomed the students of B.E. in the Induction Session held on August 6, 2018. The event commenced with a melodious welcome song presented by the students of batch 2018-19. To grace the occasion, Mr. DK Shivakumar, a renowned politician from the state of Karnataka was the Guest of Honour. Mr. Shivakumar who is a member of the Indian National Congress is presently the Minister of Irrigation and Medical Education in the cabinet of Chief Minister, H. D. Kumaraswamy. The Centre Head of TCS, Bangalore, Mr.ES Chakarvarthy and Shri Chethan Ram R A, International Trainer Director -AMCAD, Mysuru were also present for the event. The guests also ignited the auspicious lamp of knowledge.
Students who have opted for B.E. program across all branches (electronics and communication, computer science, civil engineering and others) were present for the ceremony along with their parents. Commencing with the registration process of the students, the Dean of the Department of Basic Science, Mr. Prof DH Rao welcomed all the guests and also spoke about the holistic development of students highlighting the different types club activities practiced in the college.
Principal, Suresh L delivered a brief presentation on the college where he discussed the various awards which the Cambridge Institute of Technology has been honoured with over the years for its academic excellence. He also spoke about how the intake of students has increased with the overwhelming response the Institute has received. The Principal also highlighted the students’ academic achievements in the last batch – around 95 students secured 9+ CGPA. During his conversation with students and parents, he spoke about the activity-based learning. The Institute has a system according to which students are awarded 10 marks for activities in the various subjects they opt.
Vice President- HRD, DK Shivakumar also addressed the students and mentioned that he feels elated to have this opportunity to talk to the future engineers of India. He said that the four years of hard work will eventually bear its fruit in the coming years and will also help the students in shaping their lives up for the next 40 years. Mr. ES Chakarvarthy shared his life experiences and the journey which has led him to the place he is at presently. He is a visiting professor for the college and imparts placement-related training.
Students from the previous batches were felicitated during the ceremony. Some of them who shared their experiences said that the Institute has transformed their lives in numerous ways.
In his presidential address, Chairman – DK Mohan talked about the journey of the Institute – from its inception to where it stands today. He added at that he feels immensely proud to be welcoming the 12th batch of the college. He further noted that his dedicated team of faculty members is doing an excellent job and some of them have been associated with the Institute for 11 years, since the day this legendary journey began. He assured the students and parents of guaranteed facilities and amenities at the college. He conveyed his best wishes to the students.
The Monthly Newsletter of the college was also launched at the Inauguration Day. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by the Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering.
