The IEEE student branch of the Department of ECE, Cambridge Institute of Technology was inaugurated on 2nd May 2019. The inaugural function was presided by Sri.D.K Mohan, chairman –Cambridge groups of Institution. Dr. D.H Rao Director, Dr. Suresh. L Principal, Dr. Indumathi. G HoD, ECE and Dr.Basavaraju.C, IEEE branch counselor. The chief guest Shri. Shrikant Tangade, SAC-Chair, IEEE Bangalore section and the keynote speaker Dr.Sathyapal, Director-IIH & Officer commanding Karnataka Civil Defence Crops, Government of Karnataka inaugurated the IEEE student branch. The Inaugural function started with an Invocation song by Mr.G.Sanjay, VIII sem ECE followed by lighting of Lamp by all the dignitaries. The Electronics and Communication Engineering department organized the event and student members from the ECE department actively volunteered to form the student branch committee. Dr.Sathyapal stressed on the need for the students to keep in pace with the competitive world by cultivating mandatory skills such as communication skills, project management skills and leadership skills. He also highlighted the benefits of being a member of the IEEE.
The Head of Department, Dr. G Indumathi with immense pleasure welcomed all the dignitaries, staff and students.
She also introduced the office bearers of the IEEE Student Branch. The office bearers are as follows:

- Alex Roshan,8th sem ECE – Student Branch Chair
- Hemanth Kumar 6th sem ECE – Student Branch Vice Chair
- Sahana Victor 4th sem ECE -Student Branch Secretary
- Mr. George Koshy 6th sem ECE – Student Branch treasurer. She thanked all the staff coordinators, student coordinators and volunteers for the successful planning and execution of the event.
The respected Director Dr. D. H Rao delivered the Presidential Address. He inspired the students to be innovative in their thoughts and also encouraged them to implement practically.
Dr.Suresh.L, Principal educated the student community about the professionalism one can gain by being part of international society – IEEE Student Branch. He congratulated everyone for the inaugural of the IEEE Student Branch and also suggested events that could be conducted by the Student Branch.
Shri. D .K Mohan launched the logo of the IEEE Student Branch, Department of ECE and congratulated the department of ECE for their academic success. He appreciated Dr.Indumathi.G, HoD of ECE for her commitment to getting IEEE associated with the Cambridge Institute of Technology. He opined that research and innovations are not just restricted to scientists and professors but are also for students.
The Chief Guest Shri. Shrikant Tangade enlightened the students about the importance of taking membership in IEEE and other technical societies. He gave the students a brief note about IEEE and its various activities conducted worldwide.
Also, he motivated the students by announcing the various IEEE Student Branch Awards and other awards for student members. He encouraged the students to participate in various conferences, meetings, and workshops.
Dr.C.Basavaraju, IEEE student branch Counsellor delivered the vote of thanks followed by a technical talk on the Importance of Amateur radio by Dr.Sathyapal.Amateur radio, also known as ham radio, describes the use of radio frequency spectrum for purposes of non-commercial exchange of messages, wireless experimentation, self-training, private recreation, radio sport, contesting, and emergency communication. The lecture proved to be very informative, giving the students deep insights into the world of Information Technology.
