The department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at Cambridge Institute of technology was established in the year 2007 with the aim of imparting quality education to students and bring out the best in them.The course is based on the syllabus prescribed by the Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum. Within of a span of 11 years the Department has seen a rapid growth and continuously strives at providing superior technical education.

We are a team of high quality faculty members engaged in quality teaching, research, and corporate training programs. In terms of infrastructure, our department is one of the best equipped and is at par with the leading institutes.

The department has V.T.U recognized research centre, which was started in the year 2014. Currently we have 13 faculty pursuing their Ph.D. in this centre. The department is considered to be one of the top options for CET and COMED-K rank holders.

The students of CSE has performed excellently well in campus placements of reputed IT industries, such as TCS, WIPRO, INFOSYS, and others. Post graduation studies students have acquired their internships and projects in companies such as UNISYS, NOKIA SIEMENS, TCS, and so on. The department is actively involved in hosting many additional training programs for students in areas such ANDROID APPLICATIONS, BIG DATA, CLOUD COMPUTING and so on.

The department of CSE was established with aim of developing professionals equipped with knowledge and skills to cope up with the needs and challenges of the dynamic field of Computer Engineering.

We are a team of high quality faculty members engaged in quality teaching, research, and corporate training programs. In terms of infrastructure, our department is one of the best equipped departments in the region and our students are exposed to a variety of hardware and software platforms. Fully Networked campus and High speed Internet connectivity gives our students and faculty an edge over their counterparts.


The department of Computer Science and Engineering is committed to impart quality education in its domain area with emphasis on innovative thinking, and to build collaboration, communication and leadership skills to meet the global challenges in the IT paradigm.


M1: To recruit and retain quality faculty, who have academic and industry exposure, to impart domain knowledge and to position our students in the global IT ecosystem.

M2: To develop and equip laboratories to foster experiential learning related to IT domain, which in turn can imbibe lifelong learning attitude, and to unleash the creativity of students and faculty.

M3: To encourage interdisciplinary projects in association with other programmes of the college, and in collaboration with industries and professional bodies to inculcate professionalism, ethics, etiquette and gender equality, so that our graduates are globally acceptable.


Graduates of the programme will be able to

PEO1: To provide our graduates with a strong foundation in mathematics, programming, scientific and engineering fundamentals necessary to formulate, analyze and solve IT related engineering problems, and to prepare them for higher learning, R&D and consultancy.

PEO2: To develop an ability to analyze the requirements and technical specifications of software to articulate novel engineering solutions for an efficient product design.

PEO3: To provide exposure to the emerging technologies, and to provide relevant training to work as teams on multidisciplinary projects which in turn may develop communication skills and leadership qualities.

PEO4: To prepare our graduates to pursue professional career adopting work values with a social concern to bridge the digital divide, while meeting the requirements of Indian and multinational companies, and

PEO5: To make our graduates aware of the efficacy of life-long learning, professional ethics and practices, so that they may become global professionals.



Graduates of the programme will be able to

PSO1: To use the knowledge of algorithms and programming skills to build, test and maintain software systems.

PSO2: To have a comprehensive knowledge of architecture and organization of Multi-Core processor, System software, Compiler Design and Embedded systems.

PSO3: To design and build systems, catering the needs of industry and society with the knowhow of network system and cryptography to solve related security issues.


  1. Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  2. Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
  3. Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
  4. Conduct investigations of complex problems: The problems
    • that cannot be solved by straightforward application of knowledge, theories and techniques applicable to the engineering discipline.
    • that may not have a unique solution. For example, a design problem can be solved in many ways and lead to multiple possible solutions.
    • that require consideration of appropriate constraints/requirements not explicitly given in the problem statement. (like: cost, power requirement, durability, product life, etc.).
    • which need to be defined (modeled) within appropriate mathematical framework.
    • that often require use of modern computational concepts and tools.
  5. Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
  6. The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
  7. Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
  8. Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
  9. Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.
  10. Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
  11. Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.
  12. Life-long learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.

The computing facilities and the classroom environment in the Department is an adaptive work-study environment open to students, faculty and researchers. It has state of the art computing facilities to enable the students, faculty and researchers to achieve their task with ease of operation in their area of interest.

The department has to its credit 10 Digital Class Rooms, 07 laboratories (Open Source Technologies, Networking tools, Multimedia software, SQL/ORACLE Database, Visual Programming, JAVA / .NET Programming and so on), and a total of over 205 PCs and 16 laptops, 6 DVD/CD Writers, 6 Printers and 7 LCD Projectors.

The department has 30 mbps dedicated broadband line with 24 hour Internet connectivity. All the systems are supported with Intel core i3 processors, 4GB RAM and 500GB hard disk. These systems are used by students for different lab experiments based on C, C++, JAVA, Web Programming, ADA and Shell Scripting.

The department has intake of 180 students every year for its U.G programme and offers P.G programme in two disciplines 1. CSE and 2. CNE, with intake of 36 students.The department has spacious and well ventilated class rooms, and seminar halls.

The department has its own library with 250 text and reference books
